Courts reporter @ Colorado Springs Gazette

The Colorado Springs Gazette, a 95,000 circulation daily newspaper, is seeking a reporter to cover the court beat for online and print publications.

"Responsibilities include covering criminal and civil trials, explaining the justice system from traffic citations to defense strategies, live blogging during trials for Web site and assisting other reporters with expertise of legal documents and procedures," the ad states. Colorado resident preferred.

Copy editor openings nationwide

Several publications are seeking copy editors at the moment:
  • Colorado Springs Gazette, a 120,000-circulation daily newspaper located 1 hour south of Denver, seeks a full-time copy editor to work nights in the sports department.
  • Harrisburg Patriot-News, a 100,000-circulation daily newspaper in Pennsylvania's capital, seeks a recent graduate to work full-time as a temporary copy editor.
  • The Legal Intelligencer, a legal newspaper in Philadelphia, seeks a part-time copy editor. Entry-level candidates will be considered.
  • The Committee to Protect Journalists is seeking a freelance copy editor for its book, Attacks on the Press. The work can be done remotely and pays $28 per hour.
