Paid summer internships @ CNN, MSNBC, Fox News

Do you want a career in broadcast journalism but have no experience?

Hands-on summer 2009 internships with an experienced producer at major media networks or news production houses are available to college students through the Institute for Humane Studies.

Selected interns typically receive:
  • $2,000 stipend for a 10-week internship
  • Housing and travel allowance
  • Tuition and travel assistance to our weeklong workshop, Journalism and the Free Society
  • Free books, including academic works on economics, history, and philosophy
  • Mentoring with working industry professionals
  • Networking opportunities in major media centers: NYC, LA, and DC
In addition, arrangements can be made for internships as short as five weeks and up to twenty weeks at host firms. Current students can be considered for a part time internship that works around course loads. International students are also eligible for placement.

Previous students interned at:
  • CNN in Atlanta
  • WTOP in Washington, DC
  • ABC 20/20 in Manhattan
  • Fox News in Los Angeles
  • Hedrick Smith Productions in Washington, DC
  • MSNBC in New York City
"No previous experience is necessary, we're looking for articulate students passionate about liberty," according to the posting. "Students from all disciplines, including political science and economics are encouraged to apply."

The deadline for early decision is November 1. Application materials must be submitted through http://www.TheIHS.org/journalism and received no later than January 31.
