L.A. Times seeks entry-level reporter

The Los Angeles Times is hiring a hard news reporter for one of its local newspapers that is inserted into the Times.

"At least one to two years of professional experience is preferred; however, candidates with significant internship or freelance experience will also be considered," the ad states.

L.A. Times hiring journalists for insert sections

The Los Angeles Times is hiring journalists for two of its local newspapers that are inserted into the Times. Top-notch recent grads and young journalists are sometimes hired for these positions:
  • City Hall Reporter: cover city government in Glendale, the third-largest city in L.A. County, for the Glendale News-Press. Applicants should have at least 2 years experience.
  • Education Reporter: cover private and public schools in Glendale, along with Glendale Community College. Also help with coverage in Burbank. Stories will appear in both the Glendale News-Press and Burbank Leader. Applicants should have at least 2 years experience.
  • Asst. City Editor: journalist has multiple duties, including serving as ACE of the Burbank Leader and Glendale News-Press, working part-time as a general assignment reporter, and serving as web editor of the Leader, News-Press and Valley Sun. Applicants should have at least 4 years experience.

Paid multimedia interns @ L.A. Times

The Los Angeles Times, the 4th-largest newspaper in the U.S., seeks paid interns for its online newsroom.

"Qualified candidates will have experience with blogs, ugc, editing/writing headlines and a good understanding of html," the ad states.

Paid summer internships @ L.A. Times

The Los Angeles Times, the 4th-largest daily newspaper in the U.S., is offering 10-week paid summer internships in its news, sports, business, features, Washington bureau, photography and online departments.

Undergraduate college students, as well as graduates who have finished school within six months of the internship start, are eligible. Little training is offered, according to the newspaper's website, so previous internship experience is preferred. Interns also need a driver's license and access to a car.
