Year-round internships at OC Register

The Orange County Register, a 300,000 circulation daily newspaper, offers paid internships throughout the year.

Three part-time internships (15 hours per week) are offered during the fall and spring semesters. Seven full-time internships (40 hours per week), including one in the paper's D.C. bureau, are available.

"Generally, applicants should be juniors or seniors at four-year universities or graduate students enrolled in degree programs or who have extensive experience on college newspapers, electronic media, professional publications or Web sites," according to the newspaper's website.

The deadlines to apply are: June 1 for fall internships, Dec. 1 for spring internships and Dec. 15 for summer internships.

Paid newspaper reporter internships nationwide

Paid summer internships are available at newspapers around the country through the Institute for Humane Studies.

If selected, you will get paid $400 per week along with funds for travel and housing expenses, participate in a week-long orientation, receive career guidance, and intern for 8 weeks at media outlets such as the Orange County Register, Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Philadelphia Bulletin. You'll have the opportunity to publish stories and get bylines.

The deadline for early decision is November 1. Application materials must be submitted through http://www.TheIHS.org/journalism and received no later than January 31.
