The Hotline, a daily political briefing published by the National Journal, has an immediate opening for a full-time paid externship. The entry-level position is in Washington, D.C.

"Armed with a passion for politics, the ideal candidate would have a 4-year degree, strong editing and writing skills, and an alarm clock to cope with the 7 a.m. start time," according to the job posting. "Whether you have campaign experience and are interested in making the leap to journalism or a journalism background and want to learn more about politics, we offer a creative, fast-paced environment where your contributions matter."

Interested candidates should send a cover letter, resume and, if available, sample clips to: qmccord@nationaljournal.com. No phone calls.
