Entry-level reporter @ Investor's Business Daily

Investor's Business Daily, a 230,000-circulation daily newspaper that covers business, offers an Editorial Apprenticeship Program for beginning journalists.

The position is based in Los Angeles, pays $865 per week and lasts 6 months. The apprenticeship is open to college graduates who have been out of school for no longer than six months, or seniors who will graduate before the apprenticeship starts.

If hired, you will monitor all the breaking business and economic news and write a concise, comprehensive news summary by deadline each day, the ad states. You also will write business features and trend stories, probably three or four a month. Over the six months, you will develop business news judgment. You’ll learn how to analyze the stock market and quickly decipher company financials.

Applications are accepted year round and two apprentices are hired each year. One begins on July 1, and one on January 1. The deadline to apply for the July 1 start date is April 2. The deadline for the January 1 start date is October 1.
