"Successful candidates have prior experience covering elections or Congress, and can demonstrate an understanding of political campaigns, campaign finance law and the structure of Congressional campaign committees, as well as the ability to digest and report on broad electoral themes," the ad states. "Understanding of new media technologies a plus. Three to five years of reporting experience required."

Gannett News Service is seeking a temporary Washington bureau reporter to covering Congress and the federal government for an Arizona audience.

Interested in doing political journalism and covering Capitol Hill? The Hill, a Washington, D.C. newspaper that mostly covers the U.S. Congress, has multiple editorial openings:
The Hill publishes three times a week when both chambers of Congress are in session and once a week the rest of the year. It has a print circulation of above 21,000, more than any other Capitol Hill publication, according to the newspaper.
