Minneapolis Star Tribune, a 320,000-circulation daily newspaper, seeks interns for a 10-week paid summer internship. The internship pays $714 per week and includes "great assignments," according to the editors.

Positions are available in reporting, copy editing, photography, graphic design and multimedia. The selection process is competitive and "Most successful applicants have completed their junior year in college and have done an internship at a smaller paper."

Paid summer internships @ Denver Post

The Denver Post, a 255,000-circulation daily newspaper, is accepting applications for paid summer internships until Oct. 31.

Interns work as news or features reporters, online producers, photographers or graphic designers. They are $500 per week and the internship runs 10 weeks.

100 paid summer journalism internships available

The Dow Jones Newspaper Fund offers 100 paid summer internships in business reporting, news, online and sports copy editing at newspapers across the country.

Each intern receives free pre-internship training seminars on college campuses and weekly salaries starting at $350 for a minimum of 10 weeks. Interns who return to college full-time the following fall will receive $1,000 scholarships from the Fund.

The program is open to college sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students. The application deadline is November 1.

Paid summer internships @ Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, a 230,000 circulation daily newspaper, seeks interns for summer 2009.

Internships are available in local news reporting, sports reporting, entertainment reporting, copy editing, graphics, news design, online and photography.

Starting dates are negotiable, and internships last a maximum of 12 weeks. The salary is $450 per week.

Applications must be received by November 1. Preference is given to students entering or completing their senior year.

Paid newspaper internships for D.C., Md. and Del. students

Paid summer 2009 internships are available at newspapers in Maryland, D.C. and Delaware to college students who are either from those areas or attend college in those areas.

The Maryland-Delaware-D.C. Press Foundation offers internships to to a) student journalists attending any four-year college in Maryland, Delaware or the District; b) students who reside in the Maryland-Delaware-D.C. region and attend college elsewhere; and c) students attending any two-year college in Maryland.

Paid summer internships at NJ newspapers

The New Jersey Press Foundation operates a paid summer internship program for college students who are interested in pursuing newspaper careers.

The program invites applications from students attending New Jersey colleges and for New Jersey residents who are currently enrolled at other U.S. colleges.

Eight students will be selected to intern at New Jersey daily and weekly newspapers, including the Asbury Park Press and Bergen Record. They will be paid $325 a week for eight weeks of work as reporters, photographers, copy editors, graphic artists or Web page experts. In addition, they will receive $1,000 scholarships.

The application deadline for summer 2009 internships is November 15.

Paid newspaper reporter internships nationwide

Paid summer internships are available at newspapers around the country through the Institute for Humane Studies.

If selected, you will get paid $400 per week along with funds for travel and housing expenses, participate in a week-long orientation, receive career guidance, and intern for 8 weeks at media outlets such as the Orange County Register, Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Philadelphia Bulletin. You'll have the opportunity to publish stories and get bylines.

The deadline for early decision is November 1. Application materials must be submitted through http://www.TheIHS.org/journalism and received no later than January 31.

Paid fall photojournalism internship at Roanoke Times

Roanoke Times, a 100,000 circulation daily newspaper in Southwest Virginia, is seeking a paid intern to work from September to November for its photojournalism staff.

"This is an advanced internship where you will be working on daily assignments as well as stories and multimedia projects," according to the advertisement. "Current students and recent graduates are eligible. Our interns are treated as a staff photographer and are closely supervised and coached. You will cover a wide range of daily assignments and be strongly encouraged to produce one solid story. Applicants are supplied with Nikon digital gear, lighting equipment and mini-disc recorders (for audio slideshows) and should be technically proficient in an electronic darkroom."

Naples Daily News is looking for a recent grad for a temporary graphic artist position. "Work will include charts and maps (simple and involved) for print and online use, plus other creative presentations that tell stories in non-narrative form," according to the ad.
