Journalist for Major League Soccer website

Major League Soccer seeks a journalist to assist with its official website, MLSnet.com.

Duties include: Editing and posting content for use on MLSnet.com and team websites; writing headlines, captions, blurbs for MLSnet.com and team websites; selecting and cropping photos; and making judgments on story significance and arrange content into lead packages on the team site front pages.

Applicants should be Web savvy, have 3-5 years of sports journalism experience and have an interest in Major League Soccer. Position is based in the New York City area.

About.com, a subsidiary of the New York Times Co., is seeking part-time writer-experts to produce and maintain sports guides for its website. You'll build and maintain a GuideSite, a topical section of About.com that contains articles, reviews, a blog, a discussion forum and a bio page about you. Along with a base payment of $725 a month, About.com pays based on page views. Some writers make up to $100,000 per year.

The internship involves working 20 hours per week and shooting action photos of local soccer matches, captioning photos, editing photos and other tasks. The level of salary depends on experience.
