Journalism fellowship for South Africans

South African journalists can apply for a "a 3-to-6 month fellowship that allows a writer to pursue an in-depth - and groundbreaking - project of original research to be published in any medium."

The Ruth First Fellowship is open to journalists, writers, researchers and photographers who reside in South Africa.

Applicants should propose a subject that addresses a theme of current interest in South Africa and which would have engaged Ruth First. Fellows will receive a monthly stipend and research costs. They will be expected to present their work at a public event and to submit it for publication or broadcast in an appropriate outlet.

By March 20, e-mail CV and a project proposal (of no more than two pages) to journinfo@wits.ac.za or fax it to 011-717 4081.
