News apprenticeship program @ CBS

CBS's Philadelphia affiliate, KYW-TV, is offering a paid entry-level training program.

The News Apprenticeship Program "will expose candidates to the various disciplines within the Eyewitness News operation: broadcast journalism, multi-media content production, assignment desk, newscast writing/producing, promotion writing, and special projects," the ad states. "Apprentices will be working side by side with News Department professionals, learning their craft and gaining valuable experience and knowledge. We are seeking individuals who are looking to work 'behind the camera' with an ultimate goal to be part of a newsroom management team."

Each News Apprenticeship runs six-months and pays entry level hourly rate of pay. The station will also assist with finding apprentices a job after they complete the program.

Paid intern @ CBS Interactive

CBS Interactive -- an online content network that includes CBS.com, CBSSports.com, GameSpot, TV.com, CNET.com, etc. -- seeks a paid editorial intern for its Entertainment Division.

The 6-month position is based in San Francisco, six hours per week and pays $10 per hour.

"The position involves assisting the content and editorial team in managing a myriad of online assets such as entertainment-related photos and videos as well as TV show and celebrity information," the ad states. "In addition, the intern will assist in encoding and posting video to the site. The intern will also assist in viral marketing and blogger partnerships. Will help ensure the site is kept up-to-date and current with photo galleries of notable television shows, events and celebrities."

On air multimedia reporter @ D.C. TV station

WUSA-9, a CBS affiliate television station in Washington, D.C., seeks an on air multimedia reporter.

Duties include covering general assignment news and developing news sources and original stories for distribution on air, the Web, mobile sites or any other multimedia platform. Position requires an understanding of multimedia presentation and software including video editing and posting on web sites. Knowledge of Avid editing system a plus. Job also requires a strong understanding of current events including local, national and international stories. Applicants must have at least three years experience.

CBS News offers year-round internships

CBS offers year-round news internships at its various television and radio news shows.

Interns' duties include logging tapes, coordinating script, researching, conducting preliminary interviews, assisting during shoots, selecting footage, answering viewer mail and performing clerical duties.

The educational program is unpaid and open to students who are currently attending an accredited college and have achieved junior or senior status are eligible.

Participants must have good computer skills, excellent written and verbal communication abilities and knowledge of current events. A 3.0 GPA or above is recommended.

Placement possibilities include Evening News, 60 Minutes, 48 Hours, The Early Show, Sunday Morning, News Productions, Newspath, Newspath Sports, Radio News, Press Office, Face the Nation, Weekend News, News Marketing, Political Unit, Legal Unit, Investigative Unit, CBS News on LOGO and Broadcast Marketing.

Locations include NY, DC, LA, Miami, Atlanta, Houston, London, Tokyo and Beijing. Fall and spring interns are accepted on a rolling basis. The summer program selects and assigns students on a first-come, first-served basis; summer applications will not be accepted after February 28 of each year.
