Agence France-Presse, a worldwide news wire service, seeks stringers in San Francisco and Hawaii.

H.S. football stringers needed near Atlanta

Beacon Media Companies, which publishes newspapers in the Atlanta area, is seeking sports writers to cover football games on Friday nights from now until the end of the season.

"Your duties would be to attend the game, keep stats, get quotes from coaches and players afterward and write a story on deadline for next-day publication," the advertisement states. "We cover games for seven high schools, and most of those games take place in north Fulton or east Cobb County."

Stringers get paid $50 per game, plus are reimbursed for mileage. Beacon Media publishes the Roswell Beacon, Alpharetta Beacon, Milton Beacon and Beaconcast.com.

N.Y. Times seeks stringer

The New York Times is seeking a full-time stringer/researcher in its Southern bureau in Atlanta. In addition to assisting National Desk reporters with stories, the stringer will have an opportunity to earn his/her own bylines.
